your location matters some too unless your willing to drive.

You know every single guide in the state of Texas? On the red, trinity, and the rio grande? You do realize not every guide is on this forum or facebook? Getting a little full of yourself ain't ya.... Posts like this damage your credibility and don't help the gar like you think.

You have the hunting forum guys up in arms over your posts on that forum. I've received a few PM's with invites to hit the trinity with spot lights and bows just to post pics of big shot up gar on your threads. I'm not going to kill gar to pizz off some guy on a forum, but several others are planning to. So how is this crusade to save the gar helping them if you've got people mad enough to go kill the biggest ones they can find just because of your goofy posts?

i did not say anything i cannot prove. I am the only alligator gar guide in the world who has never killed an alligator gar even Kirk still kills small fish.
i am only responsible for my actions no one else's the simple fact people would kill another creature to try to spite another human they have never met just goes to show how lost yall are.

Hmmmmmmm, that seems to show the mentality of a majority of bowfishermen. They did the same thing when were trying to get carp protected on Town Lake. If they can't get their way, they cry and get revenge on the fish by going on killing sprees. Killing for fun is a mental disorder.

Sharkbait i think what they r trying to say is that the world is a pretty big place and to say u r the only guy who has never killed one is a dumb comment, u dont no everyone and ther practices, just b happy with what ur doin and quit tryn to make other people look bad

If you think you have never killed one you are sadly mistaken . You have never caught enough if you think you haven't killed any
Some fish will die no matter how careful you are with him

I know Dawson and have fished with him several times. He is very conservation minded and has never intentionally killed a gar that I know of.

After reading all of your hateful carp and hearing your ridiculous claims like you are the only guide.......
I wouldn't get in a boat with you.
And imagine that most anyone that reads your stuff would not call you either.

And by the way there is no possible way that 100% of the gar you have caught lived and there is n possible way that you could know if they did.

It's not arrogant it's convinced when you produce......
When other people think you are good ,you will have loads of haters . This is why I don't have a job because I fish 7 days a week for alligator gar and really enjoy watching my clients catch trophy alligator gar every day
Thanks for every one who has fished with me and keep coming back year after year

Re: Looking for a alligator gar fishing trip - 06/27/17 11:44 PM

Good lord I have never in my life seen so much fighting over a gar. I ain't a guide, I catch fish and have fun doing it, all kinds of fish anytime, anywhere and here's my take because this is a public forum and I can, so before you tell me how my opinions aren't welcome Kirkland I get it you don't like me. I have fished with Chris at Gar Fishing Addiction and enjoyed it throughly and we have caught very nice fish on every trip. Kirk is good and has caught some giants, just ask him he will tell you. Dawson will find you fish and does it quietly you won't hear him talking bad about people or good about himself, no nonsense guy that loves fishing. Henry (sharkbait) catches fish and envolves his kids in it that's a great thing but comes off wrong to most people with claims like the ones above. Honestly who killed what is irrelevant, it's legal, it's the choice of the fisherman to harvest that animal. Personally I don't kill them but I'm not going to degrade someone who does. I kill deer, elk, hogs, antelope, the list goes on, some people don't agree but again the fact is it's legal get over it. There are a couple guides here that haven't been mentioned but I think we have enough to fight about so I'll leave them out. I've fished and hunted with guides all across the US and a couple countries and for my money I want a personable guy that allows you to fish and have fun and for me that would be Chris or Dawson but to each his own.

Now go! This should get good.

Re: Looking for a alligator gar fishing trip - 06/28/17 12:02 AM

Thanks I really appreciate the compliments. That means alot coming from a return client. I too love taking clients out and watching them catch fish.
No matter what size it is !
I have clients that completely lose their mind over a 5 foot fish.
Every guide out there catches fish. Every guide has caught giants.
I have one on my site that was 8'4" and had a 44" girth. It's probably the largest ever caught on rod and reel on video. Not sure I may be wrong on that.
I put another post up of three whoppers from the past month.
Every guide that I know of catches big fish. I too have been doing this a long time. I have been guiding clients on rod and reel before River Monster's was ever even heard of.
There are several great guide choices out there for Alligator Gar. It mainly boils down to who you click with on the phone.
Some clients book just by reputation too though. Everything can come into play. But one thing for sure I've had hundreds of happy clients crawl out of my boat.

Re: Looking for a alligator gar fishing trip - 07/03/17 01:22 AM

Nope I had a 240 with Doug Stange filming with In-Fisherman in 2005
But that is still a great fish
I started guiding in 1999 when everyone else was shooting them with a bow and arrow

Re: Looking for a alligator gar fishing trip - 07/03/17 01:31 AM

Kirk you are the first Alligator Gar fishing guide no doubt. I'm not too far behind you I just wasn't specifically advertising for it. But of course there are tons of them now. Some come and go every year. I see where people advertise having 30 and 40 years experience with Alligator Gar fishing. It makes me laugh to think about it. Because alot of them aren't that old.
And an 8'4" Alligator Gar with a 44 inch girth is larger than #240 as you know.
But it's neither here nor there.
Those are the fish that are very hard to come by. Even harder to hold in the parts of the Trinity River I fish.

Re: Looking for a alligator gar fishing trip - 07/05/17 03:38 PM

I like the 1 that's advertising he is a 4th generation alligator gar fisherman. The 1 you are talking about fishing alligator gar for 35 years is barely that old so.... My big fish on video came from Palestine and dad's 269 came from Big Eddie area
But as we know EVERYONE ELSE was bow fishing alligator gar and now that I am so busy and my dad quit taking people there is a big spill over from new people wanting to go. I have never had any problem with only 1 other guide who messages my clients off Facebook offering to take them for free after I got him some free stuff from my sponsors
I am busy enough that I dont have to do anything else I hope you all get business. I

Re: Looking for a alligator gar fishing trip - 07/06/17 11:32 AM

I guide because i enjoy it and I'm use the money to put my kids through college now.
Maybe one day I might possibly consider going full-time. I am working on my retirement at my other job and I'm on the down hill side now. I've got my insurance locked in for the rest of my life so that's a good thing.
I also guide for White Bass and Hybrids some on Richland Chambers Reservoir.
I stay busy though on my days off so no complaints here.
I really enjoy taking clients out and catching Alligator Gar the most. It's the excitement of how big the fish could be that is taking a bait. Plus most of the people it's the biggest fish of their life. That is one of the things I enjoy is getting someone their biggest fish they have ever caught.
