Keeping it simple for the pre-teen Gkids.

If it makes a difference, what kind of bread is the best carp bait?

What kind of hook?

How big a wad of bread?

How to do it? Hook only, let it sink & sit on the bottom? Add a sliding sinker to hold it down? "Float" it under a bobber? If under a bobber, how far down?

Slip sinker on the bottom. Use a bread ball about the size of a quarter. If you pack the bread ball tight around the hook it will stay on nicely. Leave the tip of the hook exposed a little bit to help on the hook set. Pick a strong short shanked hook that can be mostly covered by the bread ball.

Another tip is to make a very strong mixture of strawberry kool aid in a small lidded jar. Then dip the bread ball and hook into the mixture. It will absorb some of the flavor and scent. Works for both carp and buffalo.

Good luck, and post up some pics.

Instead of bread, take some creamed corm and mix some flour in to make dough balls. I like to add vanilla to it. It will also catch other fish. wink
