Caught This on Ultra Light Fishing for Bluegill!

Caught this Carp while fishing for Bluegill on the Guadalupe River. I was jigging a small piece of worm next to a dock when it hit. The fight was on the fish pealed drag for about 30 seconds. After a GREAT five minute fight the fish was landed. Approx weight was 5 Lbs. Fish was released! That was one SUPER fight.

Thanks "Curt0407" for the reply! I have caught others that were smaller and the fight was also fantastic. The biggest one I had fought but it got off at the end was a good 12 to 15 pound fish. I was fishing a creek. It got off when I tried to take it to shallower water to land it.



Side Note: Fought that fish for about 30 minutes.

Side Note: Have you ever caught em using corn? I may try to catch one this year. It would be my first! Would love to get one on the fly.

Isn't that fight fun?! Had a similar experience yesterday with a 12 lb. catfish on an ultralight rod. Posted it on the Crappie site.

Thanks Curtis and Scott for the replies. Curtis: I have caught a bunch of Carp while fishing for Bluegills/Sunfish over the years. All of the Carp I have caught were on night crawlers. Great fighters all of em. I know several anglers who have used corn and did well. They were also baiting the water. Scott: Yes sir they are a pleasant surprise when you hook one. They do put up a super fight.

Nice fish. I have caught a couple while fishing for cats. They are some great fighters. I bet it gave that UL a real work out. Good job.
