I'm new to the area, not new to texas. I used to gar fish on lake Bolton and lake stillhouse when I was still in the army. I got out and moved up here for school. I'm not looking for some ones honey hole, just some places I would have some luck gar fishing, and the fish are safe to consume. Thanks in advance for any and all info or tips

There are big gar in the Elm Fork above California Crossing levy. Also where the West Fork and Elm Fork come together but I don't know how to get there anymore. Years ago that was a hot spot.
Down south of Dallas by Trinidad Used to be good for big gator gar.
Thanks man! I hope to get out that way here soon. I remember fishing belton and taking home 4-5 spotted/long nose gar a night.

I believe the elm fork is safe to eat. The fish out of the west fork and the main river between FW and Dallas are under the eating advisory but from what I understand the elm fork fish are completely fine.
