Here for work, Just want to catch 1 fish! Help a noobie out please! - 02/02/18 06:56 PM

Hello everyone,

My name is John and im from Mississippi. I am in the Irving / las colinas area for maybe 2 more weeks or less. I brought a pole and a little bit of gear. Only done saltwater / speckled trout / red drum etc back home. I have NEVER been fresh water fishing lol.. Tried out 4x up here so far on the weekends to attempt to catch atleast ONE bass! and failed lol. Soo now i looked up the Carp fishing and everyone's threads are saying its fun fighting. I want to catch atleast 1 fish before i leave Dallas to head back to MS lol. I would be Bank fishing only

Can anyone please recommend me some spots to try out carp fishing? IDC 1-5lb lol i just want to catch ONE fish before i leave lol. I am seeing everyone as far as baits go... Small hook size, and sweet cans of corn.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am off this weekend and would like to give it a go Tomorrow and next weekend if possible.

I had a good time at Grapevine Lake in 2010, bank fishing in Murrell Park. I caught both buffs and carps. Prebaiting helped a lot. I fished there for four days in a row and my lowest total was 8 fish in one day and my best total was 24 fish in one day. My heaviest fish was a 20 lb buff. My largest carp was 15 lb.

"Murrell Park is located on the north side of Lake Grapevine and is operated by the Army Corps of Engineers. This park sits on the bluffs of the north shore overlooking the main lake. This is a very well maintained park and one of our favorite parks on the lake.
Murrell Park is also the best campground on the lake.
Cost:
Day use is Free at Murrell Park.
Camp sites area available for only $10 per night.
Amenities of the park include:
Day use picnic areas
Campgrounds with covered picnic tables
Twin Coves Marina
Restrooms
Boat ramp
Fishing areas and trails
Hiking and biking trails
Little Pete’s Restaurant"

NICE CATCH!!! I ended up trying a park in Coppell - Brown park or something like that.

Tried it out for a couple hours with no luck. I tried corn on a hook and some pack bait around the egg weight. Im thinking the pack bait i made was wrong lol wouldnt stay together!
