Stars over the Pecos River

I had the opportunity to break away this past weekend with my son and headed down south. No kayaks this time since we were working on other projects, but had some fun playing around the Pecos River Highbridge one of the nights. It was awesome. But then again, it's always awesome there.

The whole weekend was an absolute blast. I wrote a trip report with a ton of photos, but is not fishing related. So if you like the area west of Del Rio and get bored, have a look.

grew up in Sanderson and traveled to the high bridge all the time. spent many night out on sandbars along the rio and pecos and got to see what God could do with the night sky. great pictures

GMC, one of my best friends grew up in Sanderson and Langtry. We've spent years running all around those towns. I'm sure we know a lot of the same folks.

JDavis - That particular night I was shooting with a Nikon D7200 with a 11-16mm 2.8 lens. No moon, which was nice since the last few times i've been down there i've hit the wrong time. You can see more of the canyons, but hardly any stars. If you have any questions, or need any pointers, give me a shout. Be glad to help.

I found another one tonight that I put in the wrong folder when saving last week.The light on the canyon walls is a street light way, way up near the parking lot. It's the only light out there. It's so faint you really don't see it while your down there, but give it a loooong exposure and it lights up the photo. It gave it a pretty cool color.

You have me Arrgoman. I can't keep from looking at these photos of yours. You have an eye for composition. I remember skies like this as a kid with my dad at Fall Creek on the Brazos but back then didn't appreciate the experience. Great photos keep em coming.
