brown recluse bite

brown recluse bite - 05/23/15 09:35 PM

Last Saturday morning I was bitten by a brown recluse on the inner thigh. The bite itself felt like half the pain of a fire ant not bad at all but 12hrs later the pain was unbearable! The worst part about it is I couldn't see a DR because I was flooded in. I live on the banks of the west prong of the Nueces river and it flooded Saturday morning and didn't go down until Tuesday. first pic is 12hrs after bite second is today

Man that sucks buddy... I'm sure you're aware of how these bites can go. Hope you've been able to see a doctor at this point and wishing you the best during this recovery. God bless

saw DR Tuesday he didn't think it was brown recluse bite and gave me steroid and antibiotic pills. By Friday it was much worse so back to see another DR he said it was recluse. something I already knew and he gave me a shot and more pills now I'm feeling better. I have to go back Tuesday to get the black part cut out if I can cross the river. Its flooding again right now

Prayers up, you will need them, I have seen this before. It takes a month or longer to heal. My wife got one on the back of her thigh. After the doc cut the bad flesh out, you could have put a golf ball in it. Severe fever and nausea was some of the side effects. I was a long month for her. I had to change the packing in it each day, and it started out with an eight foot strip. Nasty!

You would be better off getting a debridement and taking antibiotics

I've read where Basil oil and Basil tea can help.

Man I hate those things. I'd rather come across a snake than a spider any day

I was unstacking old tin roofing in Blue ridge when it was chilly outside. We found around 12-13 between all the pieces man I was nerve racked until we finished. They burrow in these white dense web caccoon things. Never see so many fiddlers in my life.
