Hagerman Refuge Archery Buck - 12/06/12 02:49 AM
My brother sent me this picture of a buck killed on the Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. This is an Archery only hunt by drawing. There are some monsters on there as you can see.

There are monster for sure, but out of 75 people hunting for 3 days in the last segment, 1 buck was killed. It can be tough also.

Can't see the photo but I'm sure it's a good one. State Record P&Y buck came from there, too. 255 net" I believe.

The record was in 2001 and was 225 7/8". Massive. It grossed 230 6/8". My brother's friend Randy Jones was part of the search party looking for it way into the night. They deer fell into a creek embankment with it's horns stuck in the mud. Making it hard to find after loosing the blood trail. I have heard the story maybe 100 times on Dove hunts with him and my brother. In the article in Buckmasters or North American Whitetail my brother is mentioned as the passer buyer that asked them if they got it. This deer stayed in that area, that had been previously closed to hunting. Then got caught in that area by surprise when that area was opened up for hunting that season. They had a ton of video footage of this deer. He actually looked better in previous years. He looked like an Elk drawfing over the other deer in the videos is saw of him.
Not for from here in Kaufman Co. around Becker, a GW killed a 212 3/8 gross and 205 2/8 net.
