ACC TAWAKONI AND FORK TUESDAY 5TH - 09/06/17 01:08 AM

Dad and I along with other family members got together yesterday to celebrate Labor Day and just be thankful for all that we are blessed with in life.
We are thankful to have jobs, to have a roof to put over our head, and that Dad is out of the hospital and healing well.

We prayed for Jerry Hancock to have a safe trip and that his awesome smoked meat made many a people happy down in Houston.

I know Ken Gaby was going down as well so praying for a safe return as well.

From the looks of things this Hurricane Irma is going to be another Epic Storm.

In fact, they just said on the radio that Irma is the strongest hurricane ever recorded in the Atlantic and it currently has "Sustained" winds of 185 mph. WOW!
When it hits the warm waters of the Gulf it will be like pouring gasoline on a fire. It is going to be real bad folks.

I have been working extra on my days off picking up the slack for fellow co-workers still dealing with the aftermath of Harvey.
Due to my hectic schedule need to sneak some Crappie Slaying in when able.
Might get a couple days in next week and then it will most likely be October before I can get out again.

Dad and I discussed getting out again today and decided to hit Tawokini this morning. We were the first ones at the ramp.

We started out on 2 mile bridge and the bite was fast and furious at 14 feet down. Only problem fish were all shorts.
We tried various depths but 14 feet was best bite.
Managed to put 12 keepers in the boat between the bridge and some Timber we fished.
At 11 A.M. we decided to load up and head to Fork where we knew we would probably do better than what we were doing on Tawokini.

Got to Fork and put in around 12:30pm after making a couple stops and filling our bellies at Mama B's. food

We managed a few off the bridge and went back to slaying them on the Timber again.

We were well on our way to a Double limit with the bite on absolute fire until the wind came up and then the bite quit like turning off a light switch.
Managed 28 on Fork and that brought our total to 40 for the day.
We lost several at the boat and if the wind had not come up another 15-30 minutes was all we needed to get a Double Limit.

I got to go fishing today, I got to feel the Thump, I got to catch fish today, but most importantly I got to spend time with my father on the water and that was truly priceless in my book.

I did not get any personal pics today with either Dad or I holding up the fish, but I managed a shot of the Live Well and the cooler that I will post in a few.

ACC 10 Foot Rods was all we used today.

Feather Jigs- Dark Purple and Yellow, Pink and Royal Blue, Lavender and White, and Green and Chartreuse were what worked today.

16-22 Feet was where the Best Bite was for us in 20-38 Feet of water.

Thanks for allowing me to share our trip.
Looking for a bit of normalcy amid all the craziness going on here in Texas and around the world.

Hope everyone can make some time in the coming weeks to see and hang out with family when able and slay some slabs.
With Irma coming I think family time is going to become an absolute necessity just for one to maintain their sanity.

Prayers up for all that have been affected and those that are about to be in the next week to ten days. angel

A sincere thank you to all who have had the ability and time to go down and assist in person.

I tip my hat to all of you. cowboy cheers texas flag thumb

The Top Pic was a Live Well Shot.

The Second Pic was 30 in our Red Cooler.

The Third Pic was 10 in our Blue Cooler.

The Fourth Pic was after I transferred all 40 into one Big cooler.

Love the quality of the fish and their color. Absolute Dandy's!! clap
