Any Pointers (DFW Area)

I'm planning on heading out to the Irving Canals in the evening tomorrow for some slabs. Any pointers on how to fish that area? Someone told me Frazier Dam is also a good place to hit since there's some shad in there. If the canals are slow tomorrow, I might try Lake Lavon (by 380 or one of the parks near the dam) or Lake Lewisville on Saturday morning. Since I'm bank fishing, I'll have to find some good brush or rocks were all the slabs are. Unfortunately I just don't have the luxury of using a boat and a fish finder. Thanks in advance.
