downside of the great crappie fishing at Ray Roberts - 11/11/16 07:01 PM
My freezer is so full the wife has banned me from bringing in any more fish for a while...

Have a fish fry and invite the neighborhood, problem solved.

Good idea Tom. Either that or get a big flood freezer for the garage. Ray Bob fished awesome in October. Sure wish PK was chock full of crappie like that.

I think our lakes west of DFW will be awesome before much longer if not by next spring then surely the year after. Already Bridgeport is looking great, so I believe the trend will continue further to the west as the lakes recover from the drought, I am thinking crappie need a couple of years to recover from the lakes being so low. Anyway I keeping my fingers crossed for this to happen.

I caught many many juvinile crappie in my cast net this year while netting shad. I also caught some real nice ones on slabs while fishing for stripers. Give PK a few years and it will be better.

Oh I hope so. I caught a few crappie at PK this year but have 3-4 crappie in the box at PK is the equivalent for me of a limit elsewhere. It's tough tough crappie fishing at Pk compared to other lakes.
I've never caught a crappie on a slab at PK, but catch them on crankbaits, jigs and live shad. I never seem to hit a school of them. When jigging timber I invariably end up with a huge LM bass trying to break my pole in the middle of timber. Gonna get a side scan system this year, maybe that will help me find fish better.
