It was a nice day to be on the lake, pleasant fall temps, light winds, and high cloud cover. We used jigs & minnows with both producing about the same amount of fish. The corps brush piles were stacked with crappie, but most were small throwbacks. We probably caught 50+ smaller crappie and left them biting at most locations to search for bigger crappie. Ended up with 9 keepers (11 to 14”) with most of them being taken from submerged trees. Fished water depths 20 to 30’ with most fish being caught at depths at 12 to 25’. Jig color did not seem to matter.
The picture below shows crappie over a corp brush pile. Most corp piles we checked had similiar schools of crappie. The crappie we caught here ranged from 6 to 9.5”.
