Tracker pro crappie model

Has anyone fished out of this boat? I will be purchasing a 2008 or 2009 depends on price and just want to hear some reviews and some things I should look for when buying a used boat

Ive got a 99 pro team 165. I can say this. It gets the job done. Its a bit small and if the wind kicks up youre not going to want to be out in open water. Other than that I love my little boat. Has produced alot of crappie and gets me into places other big bass boats can not go. It is also a breeze to trailer.

That was one of my worries is the wind, how much wind would you say is to much? 15mph?

i really like my (orig owner) 05 pro crappie 175, been looking at others for the last 2 years, i ended up keeping mine, i really like the lower floors in this mod-vee, good ride for an aluminum boat, the higher bow handled bigger water than i wanted to be in and it needs at least a 60 horse on it

Yeah to me 15-20mph is to much. Now i'm not saying it cant be done (i've done it many times). You just have to not mind getting wet and a bumpy ride, but that's with most aluminum boats when it starts to whitecap. To me its worth it as I can really get up creaks and around timber better than a larger fiberglass boat. I agree with spanky id get the largest motor you can. The 165 which I have goes up to a 40hp I believe and the 175 goes up to 60. I can do about 30-35mph in my 165 40hp with two people in the boat and loaded with fishing gear. If I could do it over again id go with the 17ft vs 16ft. But over all Im SUPER happy with mine and it was the right price to get me on the water!

I'm going to get it cause right now I have a two man boat and I'm sure I'll just happy with a crappie pro...so what things should I look for when buying used?

tdot, you looking at the 165 or 175

My dad has the 175 2008 with a 50hp Mercury he was talking about selling. It's a good reliable boat. He lives on Leon and has fished Amistad in it a couple of times. We're both tall big men and the front deck seems a little small for long legs the seat seems like it's mounted too far forward. That's the only thing I don't like about it, besides the small live wells.

15mph sustained winds would be the limit for these boats. Anything over that in open water is dangerous.

I had a ProTeam 170 when I lived in Georgia. The wind over the lake I fished was always behind hills so never an issue. Once I moved back to North Texas I found myself not loving the ride. I sold it because when the winds pick up quick you are getting wet. I did like the space, and overall felt like the storage and livewell were set up well. Like the others said though - Open water and wind is not much fun.

Can someone tell me how the live wells for the minnows work? First time owning a boat and I don't know what the switches are for or how it works. When I hit fill it'll fill the bucket but if fill it with the plug in, the water still drains slowly I'm not sure how it's supposed to work

Never mind I think I got it. I think I just need two plugs cause one has threads for an overflow tube

Tdot -- I have the 2008 Tracker Tournament 18 with 90hp, and 80lb 24volt TerraNova..

It's an aluminum shaped like a bass boat with a deep V for handling rough waters. You will need to keep an eye out for the winds and weather, as with any boat.. I love my 18ft Tracker but will caution anyone on winds over 15 mph+. Especially, here in Texas.. the weather and cold fronts can come in on one side of the lake and before you know it.. you are dealing with 3 to 4 foot white caps..

I remember being on Cedar Creek and with a strong cold front with 25+ mph winds blowing from the south.. in minutes it was white caps and rough water.. Thankfully, I packed up in minutes and was off the lake in 15 minutes.. but many others were fighting just to get to shore..

When possible go with the largest motor and boat.. ALWAYS KEEP A SPARE 'fully charged" BATTERY in the boat..

For 8 years, I had a 2006 PT170 Tracker, 50HP Merc, 12V 46# trolling motor. I believe the hull is the same as the crappie version. Caught a lot of fish from that boat. I also fished many different Texas and Oklahoma lakes with that boat, ranging from Falcon & Amistad on the Rio Grand to Lake Tenkiller in Oklahoma with many lakes in between.

The boat was like a small motor scooter and great for working trees and going to the back end of coves where bigger boats avoided. I think the 50HP outboard was to big for the boat and 40HP would have been fine. The trolling motor would hold OK on the open water for winds 8-10 mph, but required a lot of attention to hold over a brushpile in open water with winds above 8 mph. If winds were over 10mph I would fish protected areas, such as coves. If winds were 10 - 15, I avoided the open lake if possible. With winds above 15, I would stay home. My boat had low freeboards so I wore a rain jacket because of water spray when going across the lake on a windy day.

The boat trailered very good behind your vehicle and caused very little decrease in gas mileage. When I fished with a big guy, we would normally move one at a time because the boat would tilt some with someone close to the edge. My buddy & I almost flipped each other out of the boat by both moving to pedistal seats at the same time.

They are not bad boats and the positives outweigh the minuses. As with all boats know their limitations and be aware of what winds they will handle. Good luck, enjoy, and catch some nice ones.
