St Croix are great rods, but I find their panfish rods too light of an action for me.

I have several 7' Medium light fast action rods that I like for crappie fishing.

I have 2 6ft. and one 6ft. med. action I use at fishing barges and love em. The short rods are used so I don't slap the ceiling with the rod tip setting the hook so often. They are sensitive.

Customer brought one on a trip last week. Nice rod and it felt good. Good quality cork handle with a nice finish. Light rod that had good sensitivity.

So when you say light action are you referring to how the rod loads up or just overall light the way it feels.

The light way it feels. I prefer a longer rod that feels light in hand but still has some backbone to it. I use several of the Browning AirStream rods because they have that light feel even in a longer rod but still have some backbone even in an ultra light action. You will like the St Croix rod. It's a high quality rod. I also liked the balled butt on the handle for setting in my rod holders.

Pat...Don't mean to hijack the St Croix thread.

Check out ACCCRAPPIESTIX.com

They are out of Illinois and the guy that sells them is a former Crappie Guide.

He has Green Rods and Red Rods. The Red Rods are "Heavy Duty".

I've got 3 of their Green 8 Footers. It's a two piece rod.
8 Foot is as small as they come in Green. I personally prefer an 8 Footer.

I've got 1 Red Rod that is in 7 Foot and it's a 1 piece.
7 Foot is the smallest the Red comes in and then in jumps to 10 Foot in length.

Dad and I have been using the Green Rods and Mom has been using the Red Rod.

Their performance has been nothing short of outstanding.

Ernest bought a couple green ones and you can see him using them in his latest videos.

Because I prefer 8 foot I'm partial to the green rods.

Dad and I have had no problem slinging slabs into the boat with the Green Rods.
I even landed a monster Catfish on Fork on the Green Rod 30-35 pounds.
My rod looked like the letter U for 25 minutes but it held its ground and I landed the Catfish.

Mom has been slinging slabs with the 7 Foot Red Rod.

They are $51.99 for the Green 8 Footer or Red 7 Footer.

Did I mention they are Sensitive? No problem feeling that light bite.

Just thought if you are in the market for a new fishing rod you might like to given them a try.

It's my Fishing Rod of choice for slinging slabs.

Good Luck in whatever you decide and Tight Lines.

you may want to look at the All Star panfish models they are about 50 dollars. I have 8 of them and like the action as well the length varieties 5' to 16'.
