Possum Kingdom Crappie Structure

Possum Kingdom Crappie Structure - 10/12/16 07:17 PM

Brazos River Authority has recently installed bunches of homes for the fish in PK, GB, and Proctor Lakes. Use the following link Brazos River Authority. Currently on their web site it is one of the 3 rotating items at the top of page, just click on it to go to all the info. Maybe in couple of weeks these will have fish on them. What is really neat is they posted a downloadable link for where they are located on the lake. All I had to do was rename the waypoints as the names were to long, then I was able to download it to my Humminbird unit with no problems. Hope someone else finds this useful.

They have been putting them in for years, I have never tried them though.

Looks like most are in Cedar Creek. Great place to fish but not one convenient to me.

One thing I've noticed about PK crappie is they congregate where there is good structure to protect them from the big predators in the lake. When we got the floods this year a lot of dead timber from the fires washed into the lake and made brush piles. Those piles held crappie where no crappie were present before. I may make some crappie structures of my own this year.

Yes PK do not think it will be convenient for me either. I put in at North D&D yesterday and went looking where the waypoints were marked. Only went to Rocky Hollow and Cedar Creek. Got near the last waypoint on Cedar Creek but had to go back to dock as I was running low on gas. I cannot believe I used almost all of my 6 gallons of gas. Of course in most of the trip I was going flat out at about 30 MPH with my 1978 Evinrude 70 HP. So I think I learned if I have my motor wide open then it uses a lot more gas than if I am just going about 5 or 6 MPH while recording on my electronics.

Would be worth checking out.

Tom: Even my 60 horse will eat gas if I try to go long distances on the lake. Little things like that keep me from trying to fish Rock Creek and Frog Branch much. The other issue is you can get far out away from the launch and have to come back in the dark. Not an issue down lake but uplake the risk of hitting a tree is real.

I'd sure fish Cedar creek more if they made a bridge from the peninsula over to the state park. Fat chance that will happen though.

Does anyone have the coordinates for Granbury? Don't see anything on the BRA web page.
