If you are patient enough and spend the time to mark brushpiles and or pilings with bait around there should be fish there. Yes this is a good time of year to fish with lights. It's a waiting game so don't think its a sit and hurry up catch- it can be just don't bet on it. You may need to move around but keep it to a minimum. I don't usually move more than twice a night, but i also scout out conditions and cover first along the bridge as well as bait pods. Usually shad. Fish the perimeter of the light and most likely they will be deep but will suspend to chase the baitfish. Have stout enough tackle to handle the errant striper, large sandbass, black bass. If you can draw in enough baitfish it should be good.
DON'T fish lights on a full moon night.
That may go without saying but the new moon is better for attracting and the fish need to be focused on your light. Minnows usually produce well and if you have a net to catch the shad, Line-side minnows or whatever shows up at your lights the better. You can jig em up as well. I have stayed up till 3 or 4 in the morning so plan to make a night of it. When they turn on they turn on so be ready. I would use a slip bobber presentation for your live bait so that you can get and keep it at the depth you want it. I personally don't fish more than two poles in this situation. Some do but with another person or 3 it can get frustrating when lines cross with fish on them. Best of Luck!
