Update on Jacob's eye injury - 07/24/16 12:55 PM

Thank you so much to all of you who've helped us with this -- whether through sharing similar personal experiences, specialist recommendations or just kind words and prayers.

They all mean a lot.

We believe we have found our best hope. Jacob has an appointment Monday morning with Dr. Ronald Gentile, Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology and Chief, Ocular Trauma Service/ Surgeon Director
New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai (NYEE). He's a Top 1% physician in the U.S.

In the afternoon Jacob will also see Dr. Stanley Chang. He's perhaps the best known ophthalmologist in the country. He's the "former Edward S. Harkness Professor and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Columbia University Medical Center. He is also the K.K. Tse and Ku Teh Ying Professor of Ophthalmology. He is a specialist in vitreoretinal disorders and surgery and pioneered many of the surgical techniques currently used in this field."

Keep hoping and praying, friends.

Forrest

(One other thought: I would love to understand how the military is handling traumatic eye injuries. They've seen a lot the past few years. If you know of a way I might speak directly with a military ophthalmologist, please send me a message? Thanks-Forrest)

SAMMC (new name for Brooke Army Medical Center) Ophthalmology 210-539-7874

As soon as the first person picks up explain why you're calling. Once they hear your story they might put you right through to an ophthalmologist.

Good luck.
