My dad isn't doing good. - 07/21/16 01:45 PM
This isn't really Crappie related but most of the people I know from the TFF are here. Haven't updated in a while. Dad came through his heart surgery pretty good, went to rehab for two weeks and was home doing good, then about a week after being home started acting confused, then got completely out of it (hallucinating, etc.) took him to the ER in Athens, TX but they said nothing was wrong, blamed it on a reaction to the antibiotic he was on. Next day mom took him back and they tried to say the same thing but she wasn't buying it and demanded they do something. They took him back to Baylor of Dallas last Tuesday and thats where he has been. On Wednesday he could still talk but was very confused and made no sense whatsoever, Thursday & Friday all he could do was flail his arms around and mumble, Friday night around 11 pm they put him in ICU and put him on the breathing machine and knocked him out. They have ran several tests and have found nothing other than a bad sinusitis. They thought maybe it had caused infection in the brain but they did a spinal Tap yesterday morning and prelim results from that show no infection. He has been off all sedatives and pain meds since Monday morning and hasn't woke up. He will open his eyes and follow a couple of commands like move hand / arm, etc. but goes right back out in 30 - 45 seconds. There aren't many more options, they are waiting till the cultures from the spinal tap to do their thing so we know for sure there isn't infection in the brain. But other than that, there isn't really anything else they can do. They have told us that they aren't giving up until they have exhausted all avenues but they also told us that we need to prepare ourselves. Sorry to bring the place down with my issues but it feels good to talk about it a little and we could use a few extra prayers.
