NM Update - 05/24/16 04:00 PM

Gates have been closed down some, letting out 338 cfs, lake level is 0.8 ft above normal.
Oak Park boat ramp is on line to open Friday.....
Want to go out and check my structure to see if they are holding any crappie.....
Population should go up quite a bit because of the small amount of crappie taken out during the spawn...
Thangs should start rolling very soon....GO TEAM GO....

Marina opened last weekend too. Caught about 15 with 2 of them being legal but it sure felt good just being there again. Caught most on the ever reliable Pearltruse and orange. Wife came along to celebrate getting out and caught 6 under-keepers on minnows. If we don't get anymore floods, we have a lot to look forward to!

What is the marina charging these days? Does the price go down after a certain time?

With all the flood damage, costs of repairs and 2 Springs lost $$$ from fishing, it's $8.00 a person, instead of the 10.00 mentioned in earlier threads. Who knows, when fishing gets back to what is was, might even drop a little less than 8.00. Still a top notch, clean, well run Marina. I'll do my part to give them my business. Worth it to me. Hope others do the same if they can. That being said, if anybody does spot me a few miles North at the marina at Lake Bardwell, just blame "Momma" She has had knee surgery, and the stairs at NM are sometimes a little tough on her. Actually, I think her favorite place is where ever I didn't skunk her the last time ! LOL

Does anybody have luck fishing the timber in the north end during the summer? I can't seem to find the courage to get too deep in there. Even though I have an aluminum boat.

Took my wife and daughter to the marina late yesterday and had the place to ourselves. Fishing was on for the first hour. My daughter drop her line in and within a minute pulled out a Crappie. All in all we caught about 11 with three keepers, including an 13 3/4" my daughter caught. All caught on minnows except one that I caught on a chartreuse head 1/16 roadrunner with midnight blue crappie magnet tube.

Now it looks like it will be mid June when NM is ready to fish..... This ain't fitting my schedule at all.
