Still have a lot to learn - 04/16/16 01:41 AM
Got to fish with Slewfoot for the first time about a year ago and it was like watching a fishing show. Got absolutely embarrassed. Fished again with him at the end of summer and it was like episode 2 of the same show. Finally got together again today. We have done alright the last few months so was thinking we may be able to hold our own but it was evident pretty quickly that we were still way out of our league. He was ripping fish so fast we couldn't see what he had tied on. Was starting to get demoralized until he decided that he wanted to show us how to catch white bass and hybrids. Think he went an hour catching nothing but striped fish, letting us make up some ground. Looked like he was enjoying it so much I wouldnt be surprised if he quits the CAT trail and starts fishing striper tournaments .
We ended up finishing the day with a nice three man limit with some pretty solid slabs. Caught them from 6'-20' on brush and docks on an assortment of jigs, plastics and hand tied. That being said, talked to one of the guys at my dock that caught numbers and quality in 2' of water on minnows this week as well so think you can find em pretty much any where right now if you do enough looking. Think there will be some nice stringers tomorrow at that Creekside/Nautical Mile tourney.
