Which one is least affected by heavy rains? And has anyone been catching any crappie up yonder?

Any problems at the Coffee Mill ramp lately? I haven't been there in a few years now because of the drug dealers working at the ramp.

Drug dealers? That place is out of the way. Why would anyone go that far out to do a drug deal? Game Warden is just a call away right?

Exactly right on the first point ( that is why they were there ) and good luck on the second.
The warden said he was very far away and said call the sheriff and the sheriff's office never responded once saying they would be gone before anyone could get there.

I had my camper and truck broke into and cleaned out while away from camp squirrel hunting and the idiots kicked a paycheck stub out of their truck when they robbed mine. I hand delivered the paycheck stub to the sheriffs office and they said I had no way of knowing how that stub got there. The ground was covered with frost and there was a perfect print of all the transactions. I even tried the Army COE with no joy. That eventually got resolved on a personal level to my satisfaction including getting some of my stuff back.

Coffee mill last 2 weekends. Got 4 last weekend , and 7 the weekend before...fished from 9a-5p both times. Pretty slow, and im sure with the recent rain the water is just lovely.

The old man and I are gonna head out Monday to try. Either gonna be Bonham or Coffee Mill. Not sure which yet. We are going for crappie, which I have never had much luck on in Bonham, besides getting a few smalls. So we are leaning toward coffee mill. I will let you know how it goes either way.

All but skunked. Everything pointed toward a great day, but the fish didn't agree. Water temps were 59 in the morning on main part of lake, and as high as 66 later in the day in some of the coves. Tried everything for them, they were not having it though. The lone crappie we did catch was actually out deep, in 12 ft of water along a channel. After not having any luck with crappie we just drift fished for catfish with no luck. I even beat the banks a little with a worm and ran a rattletrap along the dam looking for some bass. Just wasn't our day I guess smirk

Talked to several others and they all said the same. Quite a few people on the bank weren't catching any either.

Did you use minnows? If it is one thing I have learned about Coffee Mill it is definitely a hit or miss lake. But that being said I have always done better with Minnows on that lake than jigs. I fish primarily with jigs except when I go to Coffee Mill...you need minnows for sure then...in my humble opinion. Thank you for the update.

Yessir, tried minnows, jigs (6 or 7 different colors), Beatle spins, and a combo of both even lol. A friend is a lake Bonham today and apparently he isn't doing well. Think he is just going off the bank though.

We fished CM Sunday, 4 hrs or so, worked shallow and 4-8 ft, chatterbaits, weightless flukes/worms, jigged timber, lipless cranks and traps along the damn

NADA

but it was a great day with my son.

Been lurking around the forum for a while thought I would finally join. I fished Coffee Mills Tues from 10a-2p caught 15 crappie one bass. All but the bass came in around 11ft of water black and chartreuse, purple chartreuse thump buddies. Checked some shallow water was 61 degrees only caught the one bass shallow. Lots of small fish only 5 keepers.

James, You are welcome to call BS on anything you want, but why would I BS the good guys of this forum and if you are local I am curious why you would not want anything said about the common knowledge drug dealing.
Here was a response from another thread from the same day.

[ quote ] " Carver - I have a story about the drug dealers & the druggies on Coffee Mill that's too long to tell here but in my 20+ yrs of carrying Coffee Mill is the only place that I was worried enough for my safety & the safety of the kids that I had to pull my concealed carry weapon for protection. I had back to back incidences there while camping at 2 & 3 o'clock in the morning with dealers &/or druggies COMING INTO OUR CAMPSITE. It's sad, because I really like taking the kids camping there, but I'll never camp there again. "
