Creekside Sports Crappie Tournament on Lake Palestine - 12/06/15 08:31 PM

it was a PITIFUL Turnout but a Great time for those that showed. The weather was PERFECT and the fish were active, more so for some than others where the big girls were concerned.Only 4 teams showed up and a team from Temple took heavy bag at 14.4# & big fish at 2.9#. They definitely had the bigguns dialed in! Gerald Trahan & I caught a bunch of fish but we just couldn't find the big girls! We did walk away with 2 door prizes though, Gerald took a sack of Crazy Angler & Thermocline plastics and I won a new Bonehead 5 1/2' rod! My new Dock Shooter!!

We did catch a mess of fish and nearly all fell for my newest jig, The Green Goblin, fashioned after Crazy Angler's Warmouth Slab Bandit, based on a tip I got from Pugman Friday evening. The fish just HAMMERED it! Here's the jig and 1 descent fish caught with it.

Anyone have the team names and other weights? A 2.9# is one of the biggest I can remember in any tournament the last several years. James Rains caught a 3.34# (or close to) at Fork a few yrs ago in a tournament.

Man....son and I were going to fish Palestine on Sat. A friend called me and told there would be a crappie tournament on Palestine so it might be crowed at the bridge, hence we went to CC. If I'd have known that there were only 4 teams, we would have gone to Palestine. Heck, we might have fished the tournament with you guys...

Nevertheless, we got one limit from CC so it wasn't all bad...

Congrats to all winners!

If you guys can get with us, we'll try to make a calendar to be able to better conduct the tournaments so they don't collide with other tournaments going on.

Clifford Brown and Aaron Paulsen did great with their stringer and big fish. Big fish was 2.4lbs and stringer was 14.9!

Small turn out, but was fun nonetheless!
