What An Amazing Day at Ray Roberts, Tuesday 10/27/15 - 10/28/15 02:17 AM

The day at Ray Roberts. Wife wanted to go catch some crappies and off we went. Got to the lake at 9:45am and hit some trees and COE'S piles. Nada! Not even a single bite. By this time it's 11:20am and We didn't have a fish in the cooler yet. However We hit one spot underwater logs and tress in 20 fow. It was loaded. We were pulling nice slabs after slabs. Now we got about 12 in the cooler. It started to slow down so we hit another COE's spot. This was also loaded at 25 fow. Again we were pulling slabs after slabs. Now we're at 25 in the cooler.By 3pm the wind die down. No wind no bite! So at 3:45pm the wind picked up from the south. We went back to the underwater trees and logs. It was game on again. By 5pm we caught total 43 crappies and 12 undersized. All fish caught with minnows. It was just an amazing day! I thought the full moon would mess them up but sure glad that didn't happened. If you want some crappies Ray Roberts is the lake! Wife had a great time catching.

Maybe taking this topic on a slight detour. I read your dealing with wind. I just bought a LOWE Stinger 175 and I'm wondering about staying in position over an objective. Back 15 years ago when I was fishing more I carried an anchor especially for brush piles. I asked the salesman about storing an anchor on this boat and his response was no one carries one.

Boils down to how are you guys stay put in the wind and current?

You can use the anchor in the strong wind. Just be careful not to anchor the brushpiles. I have an I-pilot and I spot locked on it. Ray Roberts COE's piles are big enough that when you drift off the spot you'll stay on it. I usually tossed out the buoy and used it as my reference. If the wind is too strong I'll fished the trees. Good luck.
