Ray Hubbard Advice - 06/23/15 04:08 PM

Is there anyone familiar with Ray Hubbard that is willing to share some fishing spots? I am taking my kids and a neighbor's kid tomorrow morning and need advice. I have a bad habit of launching and going to the 30 bridge... Sometimes that pays off, but sometimes I get skunked. I usually don't ask for help, but I really want to put my neighbors kid on some fish. He's 13 and has never been fishing. Without telling you the whole story, his mom committed suicide last year... and his dad has nothing to do with him - so he lives with his grandmother down the street from me. I bought him a spinning combo rod/reel from walmart and he thought that was the coolest gift in the world, and he is really excited about going fishing... so I hope I don't let him down!! no pressure right?? LOL. Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice guys. I appreciate it.

Get some minnows hit main lake 66 bridge start on the west side at the 4th pillar and work out till you find them a cpl weeks ago the sandbass were on the 5th pillar thick. Try different depths till you find them. Crappie were close to the bottom and sandbass were 5ft down. Hope it helps. No bite in 10 minutes move go the next pillar

Thanks, the boys are home now and I plan on telling them we are going fishing tomorrow when I get home. I'll be sure to post any photos tomorrow afternoon if we catch anything! Thanks for the help!

The boys had a great time, even though it was a tough day - to say the least. We fished the 66 bridge and caught one sand bass... and a few small catfish.. using minnows.
I haven't taught them how to jig yet, because I figured minnows would be easier with both of them on the boat. Anyway we left there and went to the 30 bridge and there were about 10 boats tied off to the various pillars... so I figured the fish must be biting there. I moved around and we caught one more catfish. Nothing else... and I didnt see any of the other fisherman catch a single fish. Before long, they cleared out and there was only one other boat nearby. I spoke to the guy and he said that he was also having a tough day. Anyway I posted the photo of the boys holding the sand bass. They were excited. The older boy holding the fish is my neighbor. That's his very first fish! Cool! Even though it was a slow day, it was all worth it seeing him catch that fish.
