anyone have any kind of umbrella or similar installed to sit under while fishin' ?
maybe something that mounts to the seat post...

Good idea! It's just to hot to fish daytime, Ive tended to fish at night only in this heat.

Fishing under the bridges is my solution.

I have a 6' beach umbrella I go from academy for $20 as shade. It fits in a 3/4" pvc pipe that is mounted like the vertical rod holders you can get anywhere.

This is what I have and love it. Folds up and fits in the long storage compartment.

Which type mount do you have?

We had an old Bass Pro Shops umbrella setup that my wife used years ago, but it was made for a sit-down seat, and wasn't tall enough, big enough, or beefy enough to work with me standing up on the front deck, so I bought a bigger umbrella and added braces to the Bass Pro pvc umbrella holder, and it works pretty well, unless there's too much wind. Of course, if it's windy, it's not as hot anyway, so I don't use the umbrella.

I have a drawing for the PVC brace. It works pretty good.
