My trolling motor cable came in on Friday while I was still working in Odessa, and I got it installed on Saturday. Bobbie and I decided to join all the holiday boaters for a few hours today. We got on the water around 10:00 and fished until it started looking so dark at 2:30. We got home before the storms hit. Between the wind and the boat wakes, we bounced around quite a bit, but still had a fun day. Water temp was 74 degrees.
I ended up catching 15 keepers. Just as it's been for me lately, most were solid keepers, but there were no monsters. I didn't get a count of how many Bobbie caught, but she pulled in some nice ones, too. They were caught on brush and concrete, in 9 to 20 feet of water, 9 to 10 feet deep. They went for 1/16 oz and 3/32 oz jigs and my homemade plastic shad. All were caught on dark gray shad color. They have been hitting it better than anything else lately, and we just never got around to trying other colors today.
Bobbie with a couple of today's fish, and the storms coming.
I cleaned 4 fish for dinner and we released the rest. The fish was still cooking when the storm knocked out our power, so we ate on TV trays by candlelight.
