It got better - 04/18/15 12:51 AM
Grapevine fishing slowed WAY down after that last cold snap and all that rain. Earlier this week, the water was the color of peanut butter. I fished Wednesday and got skunked for the first time in recent memory. Yesterday got better, one gimp tailed crappie and a few dinks. Today after work, about 13:30, was MUCH better. I caught about ten keepers, and maybe 5 dinks, and one feisty war mouth. I didn't keep fish today, just some what I call 'therapeutic fishing'.
Fish were tight to the brush, about at 12' deep. Most nailed, but a couple were 'ninja bites' I didn't even know they were there. Less action on the jig seemed to provide the best bite. Caught everything on one of my custom jigs in black/black. Black/black seems to be my go to color on cloudy days.
