Texoma report

Texoma report - 04/11/15 03:56 PM

I fished Texoma yesterday in the Little Mineral Arm. Water temp was 56. Temps have been falling for two weeks. It was 63 two weeks ago in caney creek. best temp I found yesterday was 60 in the shallows.

I got one crappie. I'm sure others can do far better than I, but Texoma is a ways off for "crappie time".

Joe: it has been a rough spring for crappie. I've caught a lot of stripers fihing for crappie, but I'm tossing most of them back now, as my freezer if full of them. I like catching them and they are fun but they don't have the taste like a nice fat crappie. My wife has worked hard on fixing them and even has a passable baked bread crumb version that proves the point that if you put enough butter on anything you can eat it.

I'm thinking about bringing my tracker boat from Pk to Texoma for a month or so. Wife won't go out there much until June and I want to maximize the crappie bite when it comes at Texoma. The larger boat will enable me to fish the big pond better especially at night. The Sea eagle's a little dangerous, as I might get run over by some yahoo lights or no lights.
