going to take towels to wet down and put on my head and back. long sleeved white shirt. two bottles of pedialyte obtained. and one heck of a long extension cord for the AC Unit!
As much as I want to go, I am over 70 and high temps is just not worth risking it for a fish, even a crappie. Believe it is best to stay home under the a/c. If you do go out, get off the lake early. Be safe out there (sounds like Hill Street Blues)
Smart move Tom. Water temp down lake at Neely Slough is 87, so you can't even cool off in the lake. You have to get wet and get the boat on plane to cool off. Time to go to New Mexico and chase Trout.
DEPENDS ON YOUR BOAT SETUP. We fished today until 11:15 AM on my pontoon but were mostly in the shade after 9:30. My boat has bimini canopys front to rear.
We caught about 80 Crappie with 23 kept. Small Slab Bandits in 12'-16' over brushpiles.
Most boats can easily be fitted with a canopy or umbrella. Makes a huge difference.
Days like today are for taking turns tubing behind the pontoon boat with the bimini top up. The idea is to stay wet and party in slow motion........ even a little breeze works well when you are wet.
At around 3:00 PM head for the boathouse and investigate the adult beverages that have been on ice since morning.
