5/12 Limit by noon - 05/14/18 12:08 AM
Fished CC yesterday. Had to be off the water at noon due to a graduation party for one of the young ladies that I have given golf lessons to during her high school career. Started at 7am and the bite was slow. Had one fish in the boat at 8:30 from one of the spots that had produced well the week before. Thursday evening I sunk a couple of willow limbs fairly close to a "stickup" I found in 15fow that had a few fish on it. I decided "what the heck" I'll give it a shot. Probably caught 8 or 10 fish off of it with 5 of them being 11-12". Not bad for only being there for basically one day. Checked another pile not far from that one and it was loaded with 12-16" ditch pickles. After moving around several times the fish started to bite a little better around 10:30. Got to my last spot between a little before 11:30 with 19 fish in the box. First drop a 13", next drop a 13.5", next drop another 13" then a 12.5" they got wise and shut down for about 15mins. Finally caught another fish right at 13". Stuck another fish but lost it while flipping it in the boat. Looked at my watch and it was 11:55. Well, I had to wait until 12:02 to get the final fish in the boat. All fish were caught in 15-22FOW down about 12ft and caught on Stump Thumper Jigs in Honey, White Splash and a custom tie I had them make for me. Water temp was from 79-82 degrees and the lake is almost 2ft low. Oh and my navigator didn't lead me to fish early but she finally got her nose pointed in the right direction. She thinks every fish that comes in the boat is hers. Fishing has really picked up the last 3weeks with fish getting on their summertime pattern.
