62 degrees and cypress trees

62 degrees and cypress trees - 03/17/18 06:34 PM

Fished the local east Texas cypress swamp (code name since we can't name lakes here). Water temps were 62 and very stained. Ended up with a limit ALL males with their tuxedos in full plume. None were caught less than 5 ' deep and all of them were in very good shape with no signs of making beds so it's just getting started. Fish are staging up on deeper trees before moving up to the 2-3' depth like normal. Color today was white and chartreuse with a 1/8 oz pink head for visibility. Don't know how to post a picture yet so any guidance on that would be appreciated . All in all it was a beautiful day to be on the lake.

If you don't mind, were they back in the creeks or on the slope out in front of the coves?

Don’t mind at all. Every fish I caught was out away from the bank on the first break to deeper water. Water was only 62 and I’ve historically done best over there when it’s 68-69. Think it will bust loose in about 2 weeks.

Tell me an easy way to deal with putting pictures on here or otherwise you’ll just have to take my word...

Click on the 5th icon from the left above the area where you are typing. You will see an arrow pointing up in the upper right corner of the icon. Hope that helps. I'm certainly no expert. Nice report and catch.

I would love to figure out Caddo. I have only caught fish in the river there and never on the main lake. My wife likes going there just for the family photos in government ditch. I would rather catch fish than take pics.

Solid report. Glad not everybody is so defensive about catching fish.
