Cold weather crappie but on FIRE in the boat. - 12/31/17 03:16 AM

Let just start off by saying WOW! What a epic day today on the river. Arrived at the boat ramp at 7:00 am. To start getting my gear ready for my clients to be there by 7:30 am. As well loaded up on time we, pulled away from the dock on this crisp morning. I gave my pep talk and the confidence booster. They all smiled and I asked y’all ready? One said does a bear 💩 in the woods? Lol, “I said sometimes twice a day” everyone laughed and I showered down on the throttle. Headed down the river to my first honey hole. Didn’t take long as we arrived there was already one boat in the honey hole. As we approach, I asked the fellow fishermen “do you mind if we if fish down from you”? They said no not at all come on in. There is plenty of room. Thanks guys I really appreciate it just didn’t want to intrude you guys. As we settled in i took a quick look at the Lowrance as we got the gear locked and loaded. I about jumped through my skin... lol I had to take a double take. The graph looked like it had white bass stacked on a ledge. But these were no white bass. These were crappie so thick it was nuts. You’d thought a big buck just stepped out in front of me. I was shaking with so much excitement. Yep even after all these years I still get the fishing shakes of excitement. That’s why I love my job! Hey guys look as this on the graph. Those are hundreds of crappie. They were in disbelief, now guys do drop to bottom and follow my lead. Just like we talked about as we pooled away from the dock. Lines dropped and no more than I could get my bail closed and a slight lift of the jig off the bottom “BAM 💥 “ Swamp Donkey was on a free elevator to the top. As was getting this big girl over the gunnel. BAM, BAM, double in the back. Fish were jumping in the boat left and right. It was non stop action for three and a half hours. I was all over the boat like a chicken with it’s head cut off. With fish everywhere in the box on the floor. I had to tell everyone take quick snack break. So I could get a fish count. Adam asked we can’t have a limit yet do we? I said man we’re getting close. As I finished my count we need four more to get our four man limit of crappie. Okay guys y’all just need four more. Everyone was in disbelief and completely mind blown. Lots of high fives and laughter going on. I told them now let’s do this and get these last four. Let me tell you those four rascals made us work for it. It was like they knew what was going on lol. But it didn’t take to long. We had our four man limit in four hours and ten minutes to be exact. Choice of bait today was Lip Ripper Baits in disco nights and soon to be released Dorado blue and chartreuse with garlic cent. Cause all those Italian crappie love garlic 😂 On unpainted tandem 1/16 jig heads. Everyone went home with a gallon each of crappie fillets. If you wanna get in on this action nows the time! Have a Happy New Year and remember be safe and keep those lines tight and rods bent.
