One of my favorite places to visit in the US. It's just a spectacular place. Weather should be fantastic. The great thing about it is anyone can afford to go there. Park fees are low. You can travel in your own vehicle. You can also do some high end stuff if you like.

I have traveled to a lot of great places. Most of the time I wouldnt go back. However Yellowstone and the Tetons are on my would go back list. The others are on that list are Africa, and Brooks Falls Alaska.

Next trip is to Brazil for Peacock Bass in September then next year Scotland which is my wife's pick.

Bucket list is Austrailia, New Zealand, Belize, Italy. Also would like to make the 6 US states that I have not been in.

I saw on TV that Yellowstone sits on one of the biggest and most pent up volcanos on the planet. They say it's a ticking time bomb that could wipe out half the US in one eruption! Hope this doesn't happen on your trip! So have fun and if you can, get a video of you riding a wild buffalo. That would be epic!

After feeding all the bears, cougars, buffalo, and elk from hand, as any OT'er would, try exploring outside the marked trails and you could experience a lava type bath. Show us the pictures or it didn't happen. roflmao

Welcome to Wyoming!! Hope you enjoy your trip.
Some great fishing around the state.
When you come back through Laramie, stop at The Library for a nice local made beer.

Don't approach any wildlife in Yellowstone, we've had multiple charges and gorings so far and summer hasn't even started.
Saratoga , Wyoming would be a nice stop after driving down from the park, or going to it. Free hot springs soaking pools, small western town feel, good food.
The drive over Highway 130 is a must. Bear Tree in Centennial at base of mountains has great food and atmosphere.
Cody is a neat town also.

Yep , our population is only 500,000 statewide. Enjoy the wildlife.

We were able to find some on the Kelly Road in Grand Teton, north of the Town of Kelly.

The velvet bulls were along Highway 130 in the Snowy Range the day before archery season opened, 2 of them were harvested the next day.

The moose count is down about 50% in the Rocky MTS due to wolfs. The Bighorns he was referring to is in the center of the State and so far not many wolfs known there. The moose are big in the Bighorns.

I've seen video of Wolves pulling down Elk and Bison in the deep winter snow.
I'm sure Moose fare no better.

Here is a theory for you, For generations , Mother Moose did not have to deal with
wolves. Now they are re-introduced , today's Moms do not have the instincts to battle wolves.

Calf mortality has increased dramatically .

your mileage may vary

The human population of Wyoming has fell by about 5,000 people since 2014. That could be due to crude oil prices, but it was probably wolves.

I think support the Wolves over the Moose. I'd like to hear the case to support the Moose.

You may be right the Moose may not be down that far yet but the Elk definatly are. The herds were about 16,000 elk in the Yellowstone area. I think the last I saw they are down to about 8,000 now.

You don't live in Wyoming and do not know what you are talking about. The Wolves are destroying the herds up here. Elk, Moose or any other animals that have young. They eat the young and no repopulation. The herds are way down in the north west due to wolves

Wolves are taking the herds out by killing the young. They are destroying the elk herds for sure. They are hurting any wild life that have young up in the north west by killing the young. The Wyoming game and fish have video of wolves killing for the fun of it and leaving the animals laying. They like to take down cow elk with calves still inside and tearing the cow open and pulling the young out and leaving both to die. Wolves are the only animal more vicious then a human for killing for the fun and training the young wolves to kill. Their use to be youtube videos of the wolves killing like that.

They are bigger then the rocky mountain wolves that once lived here. These little dogs are usually over 200 pounds and have huge feet. thats exactly what I thought he was saying. I am only saying to me they are nothing more then killers of good game and are destroying the elk deer and moose herds where the wolves live. I see nothing awesome about them. The Peta people think the wolves are awesome which is why they got them reintroduced into this country. The Wolves that were native to the area where no where near the size of the big Canadian wolves brought back into the area and these wolves are much deadlier on the big game and ranchers cow herds then the native wolves. You will not hear a rancher from this part of the country that likes wolves nor guides nor about anyone from this part of the country. The only people that like them are Peta and people whom do not live here, or have to deal with them year around, not just when you go to YellowStone.

The wolf population usually crashes when they run out of elk and deer. Then elk and deer populations rise again and the wolf population follows and so on. The wolves are on the high side of the seesaw right now.

The last wolf pack in Yellowstone before reintroduction was killed out in the early 1900 so there wasn't a seesaw effect for almost 60 years only a few single wolves left in the lower 48 states after packs were killed out. I think it in about 1926. Wyomign ranches have fought it sent they brought them back and fought them anytime the wolves came off federal land like yellowstone

Wow!

Wolves will not decimate our elk or moose populations. They along with pests and disease will definitely hurt them.
Wolves have been spotted and documented in Wyoming well since they were exterminated, ranchers have seen them as late as the 80-90 in some spots.
We have wolves roaming now around our part of the state, they are classified as predators and can be shot on sight.
Only right around the Yellowstone area are they protected.

I live in northern Wyoming and can post these all day to that shows what wolves have done to the herds. The moose herds are way down and they are having a problem getting them back up because of the wolves killing the calves. The herds where in the 20,000 range just before the wolves were introduced and yes some is hunting but a ton is the calves being killed and the herds can not over come the loses. The moose and elk and mule deer take the biggest hits. They claim up to 11,000 elk a year are killed by the wolves in the rockies not to mention the moose, cows and their calves off of ranches. The reason Wyoming has a hard time getting the wolves delisted in Wyoming the ranchers refuse to quit killing them off of yellowstone. When wolves come off the federal lands the ranchers kill them. This has been known for years. People in Wyoming have never like the regulations that hurts the ranchers and guides. The wolves that lived here that where native to this area where Red wolves that are smaller. The big gray wolves where brought down from Canada.

https://www.jhnewsandguide.com/opinion/c...658c8679c9.html

The below is a excerpt from a page on wolf reintroduction.

National Park Service Biologist Wayne Brewster informed guides and outfitters living north of Yellowstone National Park, to expect a fifty percent (50%) drop in harvestable game when wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park.[7] This was confirmed when in 2006, the Yellowstone elk herd had in fact shrunk to 50% since the mid 1990s though researchers documented that most of the elk that fell prey to wolves were very old, diseased, or very young[citation needed]. Two 30-day periods of tracking radio collared wolves showed that 7797% of prey species documented by wolves in the park were elk. Outside the park, numerous hunting outfitters have closed due to the concomitant 90% reduction in elk permits.[8

If the moose痴 puppies were born with the ability to fly, and developed quills just after leaving the safety of the moose womb, it would vastly improve their chances of survival.

I would never blame an innocent wolf for a moose痴 inability to adapt. Sounds like the moose are the real liberals here.

Fake news. At least 43.6% is due to 1shot, Jay, and myself.

Gusick read this:https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/nature/wolf-restoration.htm

The wolves re canadian gray wolves, they have been here forever .

Hope the trip was fun Rats!!

The moose herds are way down and they are having a problem getting them back up because of the wolves killing the calves.

If the moose痴 puppies were born with the ability to fly, and developed quills just after leaving the safety of the moose womb, it would vastly improve their chances of survival.

I would never blame an innocent wolf for a moose痴 inability to adapt. Sounds like the moose are the real liberals here.

you sound more like a troll who wouldn't know the difference in a moose and a dog. LOL your stupid post about the easter bunny and such are just plain stupid and show how little you know. I could care less from someone who had so little knowledge of the subject.

yea if it really happen [and you weren't just trying to be a jerk] you wouldn't be saying that. know a guy from Florida a few years ago lost is hunting rights for several years because he killed a bull on a cow tag. They do go after people all over the country and they will track you down if you do. The Northwest makes a lot of money off of wild hunts.

I respect all opinions and meant no harm with replies I posted on the terrific Yellowstone trip blog. I must state however, that although I may have endured a couple of personal attacks, none of my theories have been refuted.
