SMDH...what is wrong with some of these "celebrity" type folks I just don't get it.

Very sad. I really like his shows. Always entertaining and smart. Seemed like a cool dude, a dude you could hang with and have a beer and swap stories. Just seemed like he had his life in order. Very very sad indeed.

Very sad. He was a salt of the earth guy. Had a heck of a story as well. Came from nothing, struggled through some real adversity, climbed to the top of his profession. The wife and I went to see him on tour one time. It was a cool experience.

Depression is a super tough thing many people battle privately.

RIP, complete shocker for me. I have watched him for several years and this one just doesn't make sense. Very sad, prayers for his daughter and family.

Just reinforces the fact that fame & fortune do not guarantee happiness.

I would spend a couple of weeks when I was a child with an uncle & his family. They lived out in the country on a farm and were dirt poor. They were the happiest people I ever met.

He talked about his struggles with opioid addiction and depression. I thought that stuff was behind him, feel sorry for his young daughter.

He seemed very cynical and negative, although I liked his show up until he thought we wanted to hear his political views while eating fried chicken feet.

Years ago, I read his first book, Kitchen Confidential: Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly and it was the best book I�ve ever read about the restaurant business

People always branded him as a NYC chef but he would correct them and tell them he was actually from New Jersey

I had the chance to chat with him quite a while once at the Admirals Club in Sao Paulo. He was a talkative, friendly guy just like he was on his show.

Just crazy. Just like Kate Spade...so they work hard, build a reputable name/brand for themselves, make a bunch of money doing it. Then when they reach a point in their lives were they should kick back and enjoy the fruits of their labor...only to then off themselves?

I'm actually saddened by this. His shows are some of the best on TV. I haven't read if he left a note/letter. Still a chance it was AEA. Stay hard Tony! You were one of the best!

This was my first thought too. He seemed like the kinda guy that had done it all and probably needed something kind of extreme.

Some guys and I at work today were saying the same thing. Something didnt seem right the way it was being reported.

My brother did the same thing with a vacuum cleaner cord when he was 17. I was 18. I�ve had a long time to think about it. I don�t think selfishness ever crossed his mind.
