1st boil of the season...

They weren't cheap, but they were berry good. And...let me add, if you haven't chunked cauliflower in there to swim around, ya'll are missing out!

Screw dem tators and corn! Radishes were a success and so were the turnips!

It was our annual neighborhood boil, 90lbs of goodness.

Sadly they were $3.60lb, (early prices, but good size with the recent cold) but everyone pitched in as usual making it a success.

Very nice! I would much rather have cauliflower and radishes over corn and taters. thumb

I remember that. They folks had a serious set up for boiling crawfish. That was a good time.

Thanks for the invite, BOB_FTW

Maybe I've just got the hookup if I could get them delivered. The place we got them from in Texas City has sack price at $1.67 today.

Thanks. Where do we make donations? Or is buying shirts making a donation?

Re: 1st boil of the season... - 03/07/18 08:16 PM

Yeah, me too. I've tried several times, and they are good enough, but too much trouble and mess. I'll take shrimp and oysters.

If you think oysters are easier to eat than crawfish, you're doing it wrong.

Oysters I can pop right open and slide it through the sauce and eat. Dang mudbugs are hard unless you just pop the tail meat and then you get hollered at for not sucking the junk out the other end.

Twist, slurp, and pop the tail meat out. It takes less time to eat a crawfish than it does to open an oyster. And with every oyster you have to dress it properly with some horseradish, lemon, and a generous glug of hot sauce.

Both are good in my opinion .... and a real treat. Bring it. People eat Turkey at TG. I Cajun fry.... and it is tolerable. But Boils, Oysters... Yum And a sign of Spring. cheers
