Re: National signing day - 02/07/18 05:52 PM

Herman has a great class this year and will be much improved. Fisher/A&M have landed some big names today, should be interesting to see who else they end up with by the end of the day, considering they were ranked around 35th just a week or so ago I believe.
Great to see both Texas schools getting some out of state big names...cant wait to see some great games next year

I guess Texas will have to settle for their horrible recruiting class that is hanging in there at #3 in the nation. Horrible.

Lol, we have the #16 class in the nation with an entire new coaching staff, and will be #15 when we land Waddle and Jackson. This is a "transition class" from one coaching staff to the next. We flipped a couple of big recruits from the best football school in the nation (bama) and signed a significant amount of other recruits that had narrowed it down to A&M, Tennessee, TCU, tu, OU, Auburn, LSU, and other big time programs. Wait until Herman sees the recruiting Jimbo can do with a full year. Our 2019 class is going to be outrageous.

Ohh and we are the #6 class in the SEC according to 247...

Herman went from the #33 class last year with just a few months to the current #3. It’ll be hard for Fisher to beat that improvement next year. He better have the top class for what you are paying him.

Sorry ESPN had you at 8, but hey 6th isn’t bad if it was the national rank.

A&Ms 2019 class is currently ranked 4th! roflmao looks like it isn’t as hard as you think.

Granted it’s not as big of a jump as Herman’s, but that’s cause Jimbo’s transition class is that much better.

well, truthfully, being in the middle of the SEC is MUCH better than being in the middle of the little 10 like tu will be/has been....but, I suspect, with Fisher, the Aggies will be better than the middle.

Re: National signing day - 02/07/18 10:32 PM

These "standings" get so over hyped every year. Herman inherited a ton of talent. I like Herman and what his mindset and philosophy of coaching is but Texas Univ. is not Cougar High... Sumlins worst recruiting year according the stats ties Fishers 1st year at A&M. It will come down to who can coach'em up, who can stay healthy, and who doesn't transfer out and can maintain depth in the coming 2-4 years.

Not a 'bama fan and neutral at best on Saban but his staff can recruit and more importantly they keep their kids. Their 2-3 deep could start in most any other conference.

IMHO, a lot of 4 star and 5 star recruits are listed that high for one reason.... they matured earlier and were basically men among boys in high school. Once they go against teammates and other players in college that are bigger, faster, stronger, they kinda flame out as they realize they aren't as good as they've been told the last four years..... or their entire life.

Take your futbol and go home. bolt

Relish the "#3 ranking" for players signed based on a subjective rank from high school. They have never been on the practice field much less a game at the collegiate level...only projected. A few come from great football genetics but the tea sips only signed 3 OL prospects and couldn't protect the QB in 2017? That ought to leave any Texas fan scratching their collective heads.

Baylor was ranked "#30" coming off a 1-11 year with a 1st year coach and the 'stigma' that was left behind. Kudos to Waco. It will be interesting to see who can coach'em up.

Alabama is the exception. Look at UT, aTm, Penn State, Nebraska, etc.....They all recruit plenty of 4 and 5 star athletes that don't pan out. Again, IMHO, a lot of overlooked 2 and 3 stars that mature later and give it 100% are the ones that can make or break a team.

1st, I couldn't care less about irrelevant programs like aggy, Penn State, or Nebraska because none of them have competed for championships in decades but I do know that the last years Texas had rosters loaded with 4 and 5 star recruits they played in 4 BCS bowls, winning 3 of them and a National Championship.
2nd, Alabama is not the exception. Clemson was loaded with 4 and 5 stars. Ohio State was loaded with 4 and 5 stars. So was Florida State before them. The list goes on and on. You could make the case that a great coach like Gary Patterson has won a lot of games with 2 and 3 star recruits but where are his NC trophies?

UT has a huge issue. Their Oline is horrible, worst in the big 12 and they only got like 3. They needed some guys from up north. guys who wont be much help for 2 yrs. who is gonna block for all these RB,QB and wideouts? Ut will be better but not much.

Truth is 40-50% of the kids signed yesterday (at all schools) will never see the field. They will not pan out against top college opponents or will transfer or just quit. It's the remaining ones that you hope do pan out and are as good as advertised.

Correct and are in the running for two grad transfers.

Re: National signing day - 02/08/18 07:11 PM

with the new signees plus the guys who return on the OL if they can stay healthy this season they should be fine. Not great but serviceable. Losing Conner Williams will hurt.

The defense should be stout again. They signed 3 of the top 5 Safeties in the country.

It is what he does. It is what many t-sips do. How many threads are started that sips end up bashing A&M or any other school?

I think most are just discussing Texas till your boy WAWI chimes in. At that point it turns into a fight of who is better. Same thing happened with this thread.

you at least provide some substance in your post where his are very predictable and the same comment each time. He lacks the ability to read and be informed to make any other post.
I'm gonna miss WAWI's "Fire Sumlin" threads next season.

You got that right... Dammit bang
