Tomahawk Pork Chops

Tomahawk Pork Chops - 12/08/17 03:38 AM

Anybody ever cook these? Had four given to me a few weeks ago and finally got around to grilling two today for lunch. (I got real busy with grandkid stuff this afternoon and just now had time to post.)

Used some Tupelo Honey Crunch rub and grilled them on my CharBroil Infrared grill.

Greatness!

Haven't. But those look great! I've seen the beef ones at the HEB in Hachie and want to buy every time.

Even though they tasted great, I doubt I would ever buy them, or the beef ribeyes either. They are very cool to look at but the big bone adds nothing (but the coolness) and probably adds considerably to the cost of the cut.

Yeah, it's just a pork chop with the side flap removed. And you're going to pay more than double for a butcher to remove when you can do it yourself (but why would you because that is where the fat and some of the best meat is?).

I did the similar cut of lamb for the Wife's birthday last month. each piece had two ribs and they weren't fully frenched. Seared in a sautee pan and finished in the oven at a 385 convection roast. Pretty goo stuff.

I'd get down on that. I think lamb is very under rated here in the US.

That's the one. I bought mine from Rodak's Coffee and BBQ Grills in Ft Worth. I was there buying some custom roasted coffee beans and he showed me this. I think he sells it for $17 (large 10 oz size). Amazon sells it for $23 I think.

I used the same rub on the turkey I did in the Big Easy for T-Day. Next time I do a pork butt it will be on that too.
