Watch out in the mornings, that fog will make you very hard to see

Yeah, watch out for the glitter boats running 60 mph in the fog.

Do kayaks need a reservation or can you just show up in the morning pay the fee and fish? Thinking about going tomorrow for a "birthday" trip. But kind of last minute so I dont know

Yes they make you make a reservation for each kayak brought.

If it's foggy, I wouldn't launch a kayak and risk getting run over.

I also learned Friday that they had a rule change as to where kayaks can launch. Last year I could launch anywhere you could bank fish from. This year kayaks have to launch from either the ramp or the area just to the right of the ramp. Either way it puts you in direct contact with the power boats. I'm not a fan traveling in the same areas as the power boats especially the ramp area it gets pretty congested. While almost all the boats give my my space there are a few jack wagons that think I'm in their way and some how a lesser fisherman so they will purposely crowd me. I protested to one of the park supervisors but it did not not matter so I think I've made my last trip there. While I love fishing that lake it's not worth the extra stress of having to be on constant watch for every boat I hear near me that is running on plane. The whole reason I fish is to help me decompress from the work week. So for now I'm staying clear.
