General kayaking question... - 07/11/15 11:31 PM

I have a commander 140 with a rudder system...I love this yak for fishing...however, a friend of mine likes to float down some swifter running rivers and asked me about going...I am comfortable in moving and manipulating the kayak, just wondering how this kayak would do making maneuvers in swifter water or if I should just go out and buy a cheaper SOT kayak that is 9-10 feet long for that kind of stuff.

Just the fact you are asking is proof that you need to follow your gut feeling.
I have a Commander 120 and I would not take it down swifter longer stretches of rapids.
They track well because of the hull design, and even with a rudder it's not going to turn on a dime.
