Brazos Below PK 6-29-15 - 06/30/15 06:20 AM
Hit the Brazos today to do a little Bass fishing and to try out my new Airpro Max seat. The seat was awesome and so was the fishing. The release was at 227 cfs, which is perfect. I didn't travel to far from the bridge. The water was cool and a bit stained.
I started out catching a small spotted bass on a crank. There was top water action going on like crazy, I suspected sandbass and I was bass fishing so I ignored them for a little bit, then I couldn't take it any more. I proceeded to catch Striper and Sandies till the cows came home, cast after cast.
I caught several largemouth, smallmouth, green sunfish, drum and gar. I figure I caught 100+ today. It was not stop action. Best largemouth went 4 #'s, Striper up to 3#'s and Sandbass up to 2#'s. The gar were pretty big and lots of them too. The smallie was about half a pound and put on an aerial show. The best part was I had the river all to myself.
I was using a Phenix Recon lite action rod with a Diawa Pixy 68 SPR baitcast spooled with 6# test and that made for a fun setup. Every bait I threw I got bit.
