Wireless Fish Finder for Phones and Tablets

Wireless Fish Finder for Phones and Tablets - 06/01/15 02:33 PM

Anyone have any experience with any of the wireless Bluetooth fish finders.

For example-
iBobber, deeper, fish hunter...

I'm sure there are several others these are just a few I saw today.

I have a kayak so it seems as these would be much easier than mounting a system.

Any information is greatly appreciated!

No experience with them but you have to look at what features it has for the price. It's $100 for ibobber and you have to use your $600 phone with it. A decent entry level FF can cost less or the same and you don't have to use your phone. Those FF come with mounts and everything needed. To get the true use of one of the Bluetooth FF you have to waterproof you phone and purchase and good mount. Plus you have to constantly wake up and unlock a phone.

I tested one out and wrote up some thoughts on it.

Have owned a couple and gave them to some young fishermen to play with on their farm tank.

The transducer really needs to be at least a little stable to be even mildly effective.

On really calm water they might work well as a depth finder perhaps.

It would have to be almost free considering how cheap you can pick up a fish finder... I bought mine from the classifieds here for like $25 its great for what I use it for which is depth and structure. I don't think it is very good for showing fish but then I may not know what to look for. Its a low end unit (Fish Easy 350) I believe but it works great and I have no complaints. I do wish I had DI though, for a better pic of whats below.

I have the vexilar unit. I really like it. I use it almost every time I take my kayak out. I don't use it any other time really.

Ask away if you have questions.

I actually remembered an old humming bird fish find we had on an old boat that has just been setting on my parents property for about 4 years. Long story short, I bought the boat while a freshman in college, had all the titles, but the outboard motor title was never transferred into the name of the individual I bought it from. The previous owner was killed in a car accident a year before I bought the boat... Oh well. At least now I'll get to use it for something.

It's a humming bird 525. Wasn't sure if it would work after so long of sitting but hooked it up last night and it worked fine. Still have to test it in the lake.
