Literally a black bass...

Literally a black bass... - 05/19/15 09:44 PM

I was fishing buchanan this past week when I noticed a fish following behind me. Couldnt figure out what it was because it was black. SOLID black and no fish that color came to mind. Pitched it a worm and it followed all the way up to my kayak. It was a bass. It was a SOLID black largemouth bass. I dont think yall understand what I mean. It was not a dark green, it was not a grey, there was no cloud cover to mess with my vision, and it was 6 inches away from me. It was a SOLID nose to tail black colored bass. The eyes were transparent the only part you could see were its iris. They were white. I thought it looked sick at first but was actually pretty healthy aside from its lack of appetite.

Has anyone seen anything like this before?

The water was actually really really really clear. Cleanest I've ever seen at buchanan. Lmao I started at the rigs but these winds just carried me right over to central Texas. =)

If you go to the Buffalo River in Arkansas you'll see a lot of LM Bass that are totally black. Happens allot in really clear clean water.

I really wish I took a picture. I didnt know how long it would hang around so I was stuck between reaching for the camera or trying to get it to hit something for a better picture. Ended up getting a good look at as it turned all over the lizard. Solid black. Craziest thing. Called it good luck and then lost a big gar. Guess I was wrong lol.

I swear someone posted a pic of an actual black bass like that on the forum last year... I want to say they caught it at Grapevine lake for some reason..... the memory is foggy but I know I saw one just not sure where. I can't figure out the search on this forum but I tried to find it. Maybe someone else saw it and remembers..... it might have been in the bass section or the photo and video section.

We use to have a bass in our fish tank. Whenever hed get excited or agitated hed get dark.
Cichlids are r notorous color changers too. Kinda reminds me of a mood ring. Ive seen bass with some really cool markings. Check this one out.
