10/16/2014 An UNBELIEVABLE day on the Brazos!!!!

I was the only one on the river this morning and ended up having an amazing day on the water!!! caught several quality fish including largemouth,spotted bass,and a big ole surprise smallie!

I almost took the same pictures of the water on the Guadalupe at Victoria on Wed. Sun coming up, steam rising off the water, quiet and peaceful. Doesn't get much better than that and the fish was an extra bonus. Nice catch. I ended up with two eater cats, drum, long nose spotted gar and a bucket of bluegill.

Thanks guys it was a lot of fun! It was so peaceful and I saw a whole family of deer on the waters edge slowly stepping in. That was until the Alarm sounded and they all ran off! However, there were a couple of negatives, My legs got scorched in the sun! ( my fault ) I know but my plan was to fish early and leave as soon as the sun came up till about 11 then leave for lunch but the fishing was just too good! And I paid for every bit of it lol not only did my light complected skin get cooked but I didn't realize how far down stream I went until I started paddling back and boy was that grueling!! I steadily paddled back upstream only stopping a few times for only 5 to 10 seconds max to avoid losing progress or regressing didn't cast a line on the way back and it still took an hour or so to get back. Never again! I need a car pull buddy. Overall a great day on the water and the best I've ever had from the yak!

WOW!!! What a day any where!!! I would not have thought that there would be that quality of fish in the river. What part were you fishing?

I'll bet that is below the dam at Lake Whitney.. Going there right now to fish the afternoon until dark.. I can only hope to do as well! Those bass are very impressive to say the least!

You'd be surprised at the quality of fish you can catch on such a shallow stretch of river. They're in there!
