That spot where the pic was taken is mostly brackish until you get to the bay. Two weeks ago a kayaker was catching bass alittle further up.

I grew up Bass fishing and I loved it. I didn't get to fish the coast until I was older. I remember the first time I had one of those Redfish days everyone always talked about. Those are some awesome days. And then making Blackened Redfish hours after catching them.

Can you tell me the general area you were fishing? Were wanting to come down from OK but the closest place I know of to fish for them is Port Arthur which is still an 8 hr. drive. Any place closer for us?
Thanks!!

I’ve tried to post some map locations of the Freeport area we fish . I’m not able to copy and paste or download what I’m mapping . If you like send me a PM with your email or number so I can send it that way if you like.

This is a good area also. All three of these spots the water is shallow once you come off the intercostal waterway.

All three lakes good , all I have is a kayak so I can’t speak for getting in or out of these spots with a boat.

Where do you launch from?
I have a kayak, but never have used it in the waterways and bays. I have only used it in freshwater lakes and creeks.
Do you have any suggestions about going down there?
Thanks for any info.

Thanks for your replies. That’s further than we’re able to travel for such a short trip but I hope I can get down there soon. Caught my first reds in FL last August from a kayak and I can’t wait to get after them again!!!
