Electric feather piroque boat - 02/17/17 06:05 AM

I bought this 2 man piroque boat a couple of months ago. It was made by fin and feather company in marshal texas. It's probably 30 years old. The built in 12v trolling motor works great. It has running lights and a 12v bilge pump. Only problem is no title so I can only use it on private ponds.

I downloaded from iPad. 1st time it posted the pic. When I looked at it the post the pic had some personal data I didn't want public. I deleted post then tried to use a different pic. Never could get pic to post again. Even tried a different pic. I'm not too good at this sort of stuff.

Try downloading the photos to your PC & name them so you know where they are located then when ever you want to post,on the forum just click on the icon with the blue arrow four box`s over from the smiley face, browse the files, open it, and just add the image and it will automatically post. You can click on preview Post before you submit it.

I fished out of a pir0que for years but it had a front mount troll motor that I could raise up to clean the prop. That will be a fine fisher but if the moss gets around the prop can you reach it from inside the boat?-p-

Re: Electric feather piroque boat - 02/20/17 04:03 PM

No I would not be able to clean prop from inside boat. I am going to change the two rods that protect the prop to larger rods and attach two small wheels to enable me to roll it to ramp or waters edge.

I wanted that exact boat but could never find one with a title to use on Texas lakes. Most of the ones I found were in East Texas or Louisiana. I gave up and bought a Pelican Bass Raider on sale from Academy.

My son lives in Shreveport Louisiana. There is always one or two for sale in Craigslist there. Usually it's the water moccasin brand.

Nice, brings back good memories, had one in early 80's they had two mods, mine was small, 8.5ft found guys back yard at ray hubbard.Took it to marshall got new trolling motor installed. It moved pretty quick.Caught lot of bass&crappie out of it.Even used it a lot duck hunting.Iguess you may have two things I should still have, according to you're screen name,a real red 69z/28.Dang it.

The Water Mocassin is featured in a little fishing book written by a TFF regular that was published about a year ago.

And, it is still being made and sold.

Just a guess that there was never a large market for them except in certain areas, that as soon as the plastic kayaks came out and grabbed attention that it pulled more attention away from pirogues.

Almost all of the current kayaks are hybrids of one sort, some motorized, too.

Here is a link to the Water Mocassin:

Brad r. I don't have any names of previous owners. The guy I bought it from never knew any names. He just traded for it a few years ago. No tx numbers or no vin numbers.

Lazy Ike I do have the 69 z. Has the dz 302 engine. I bought it in 1996. Finished restoration in 2002. Only thing not original is I left off putting a vinyl top back on.

When I was in school that 302 was a Saturday night Hell raiser from stoplight to stoplight.

It is a real quick car. 302, m21 four speed with 3:73 post rear. Winds up rpm's really quick.

I'm much too easy on the z. If I would have owned this car in 1969 I would have pushed it to the limit. I would push it past that 6500 redline daily
