Pelican anchor - 12/02/15 04:31 PM

I'm looking for a new spot for my anchor. I was using an Scotty on the front of the boat but I got a lot of swaying. I want to know what others are doing about there anchor and has anyone tried a trolley system on a pelican

I have not tried a trolley but unless you get set just right, lucky really, you need two anchors to not sway.

One trick that I have used I borrowed from the kayak guys... get a large clamp from Lowes, tie about 10 feet of line to it and tie to your boat, or loop it over your TM, whatever works and then you can clamp off onto trees or brush etc.

That in conjunction with your anchor can keep you pretty still and is much easier then carrying and setting two.

When using a pelican, I like to tie main line at the bottom hole and use lighter line to the top. That allows the light line to break if the anchor gets stuck, and recovery is easy when pulled in from the bottom. Two anchors is good way to hold position, but complicated. I like hovering in place better, no set up & take down of anchor, and I am free to move quickly to face a fighting fish or to chase a large running fish. Hover with fins or trolling motor on a tube or toon, depending on how strong the wind & current. Some trolls have GPS lock if you are using a pond boat, I think.

Yes, for only about $1200-$1500. That would be awesome to see one of those mounted on a Buster style boat.

Someone do it and post pics please.

I saw those clamps but where I fish. I wanted the ipilot on my pelican for spot gps lock but yeah the price is crazy!!! I been using a clear for now on the side with a mushroom anchor and it seems to work better then my last set up but I think I'm going to try the trolley system
