Brazos River Access

Brazos River Access - 08/20/15 01:50 PM

On Google Earth, it looks like I might be able to launch my trailered pond boat into the Brazos just below the Whitney Dam at 'Riverside Park' Am I mistaken? How deep is the river from that point on downstream for a bit? What's the current like? Thanks.

The current isn't bad unless they are generating and then it can be pretty tough. Riverside Park is a good place to launch and there will be a few areas you will have to walk in to get to some fishable water but not many. I kayak and after about 20 or 30 yards I am able to get in and paddle on downstream. Hope to see you on the water soon. May go this Friday morning about daylight. I just do like to be very far downstream with they release water from Lake Whitney. However, when they release water the stripers come alive!

Let me know how the trip goes if you take your two man boat! I really want to take mine down a river as well
