Qualitybassclub.org out of San Antonio put this one on. I have been with them 15 years as there are no local bass clubs.

Gotcha. I used to fish with a bass club when I lived in SA, but they don't ever have CC on their schedule.

Re: Mathis tournament - 07/28/16 05:47 PM

You guys, I have talked with Pat and Justin at South Texas Marine and we are looking at putting on a week night type tournament that would run appx 3 months before we turn the clocks back. The way I see it we could fish say 2 nights per month that would be six tournament series, have an angler of the year. Nothing expensive, fun and commaraderee. Trying to get a head count to see who would be sincerly interested. We will then meet and discuss what type of tournament, dates, issues, things like that. Please respond asap as if we are gonna do this we need to get started to get 2 tournaments in on August. Pm me with # if ya want to discuss. Thanks Robert

Pat with South Texas Marine and I have come up with a 6 tournament series that we believe will be fun for all! These tournaments will be out of the State Park north ramp. Fishing time will be from 5pm and must check in no later than 8:30pm. This is a Friday evening series and would love to see a lot of participation! We know for sure that we will host a minimum of 10.

I will be at the ramp at 4:30pm to collect registration. CASH ONLY! This is an "On Your Honor" tournament. You can put in anywhere on the lake, you just must register between 4:30 and 5pm at the State Park ramp.

This will be a 3 fish limit and its hot you guys so use your fish care expertise!

We will have some hot dogs and drinks at weigh-in in order to get to know each other!

Schedule:
August 19th
August 26th
September 9th
September 23rd
October 7th
October 21st

Entry Fees:
$ 20.00 per tournament.....with 10 participants or less pays two places
70% for 1st......30% for 2nd
With 11 participants or more pays three places
50% for 1st...30% for 2nd...20% for 3rd
$5.00 entry (optional) for big bass.....100% payout to biggest bass

Rules: This is an "On Your Honor" tournament designed to have some fun, build friendships and win a little money. Typical bass tournament rules apply. Be respectful, have fun! Although a dead fish CANNOT be weighed in for big fish and a dead fish will cost a 1/2 LB. PENALTY. All final decisions will be made by Pat Ball and myself.

Please PM me your name, email, and phone number if you will attend, have any questions or have any ideas to me. Other than that; State Park, North ramp, Registration from 4:30 to 5pm. See ya there!
God bless

Victoria/Goliad area has a club- Coleto Bassmasters- we fish Mathis but lately the water levels have been so low there are no ramps open- this year we were finally able to fish it again. I will pass the message on this tournament.

Re: Mathis tournament - 08/12/16 09:35 PM

My ramp is scary right now. Pat figured the north ramp at the state park is the only one right now. Unless you now a private area but most of those are out of the water. We are catching some quality fish though!

Re: Mathis tournament - 08/22/16 03:50 PM

Well, the first one is done and in the books. There were 19 participants! Great turn out and lots of fun! The wind decided to blow 30 mph the day of the tournament after 2 weeks of no wind! Welcome to south Texas. We had people travel as far away as Coletto Creek to fish and we appreciate ya! Below are the results:

1st place...Jere Koonce with 7.20 lbs...$190.00
2nd place...Lee Lopez with 6.54 lbs...$144.00
3rd place... Bob Koonce with 4.12 lbs...$76.00
Big Bass....Lee Lopez @ 3.58 lbs...$95.00

The wind caused tough fishing conditions with big waves and the inability to hold on to some fishing spots. Shallow the water muddied up pretty good but all in all we had a great turn out and met some good people over hot-dogs and cold drinks! Next up...this Friday August 26th!
See ya there!
God bless
