Falcon Lake - 04/14/16 07:24 AM

The last few months here at Falcon Lake have been a blast and i have been blessed to be able to take out and meet a lot of very nice people! The spawn is over and the fish are starting to push back out on secondary points. The post spawn is always one of my favorite times of year to fish here at Falcon, finding the right points, creek channels, or rock piles is key for boating numbers right now. My best numbers have been coming from anywhere between 10 to 18 ft on secondary points with timber or rocks using a tx rigged Zoom Z-Craw or a Brush Hog with a 3/4 ounce weight pegged. My most successful colors right now are, Water Melon Red, Houdini, and watermelon candy. I am letting my bait sink on the cast and dragging it real slow along the bottom back to the boat making sure im feeling some sort of rock of timber on the bottom. Im also having good numbers and size coming off of a Carolina rigged magnum fluke in either the color mardi gras or water melon red. With the c rig i am also slow playing it back back to the boat making sure i have good contact with the bottom. all my baits i am dying the tip of their tails is chartreuse spike-it. Craw fish or gizzard shad colored square bill crank baits around bushes in 5 to 12 ft of water also has been producing a decent bite. if you are here at Falcon to scout water for a tournament or do not like to sit in one spot for to long a good way to find active fish is using 6xd, 8xd, 10xd crankbaits depending on the depth you graph fish at. My favorite color is the citrus shad! Hope this helps you guys out a little or at least narrows it down for you. If you are looking for a guide service and lake view lodging here at legendary Falcon Lake you can contact me Justin Crawford at 214 448 8798. God bless and set some hooks!
