there are a lot of birds there --- its one of the top bird watching {sanctuary} spots around if you are into that kinda thing --ive seen birds there that i have never seen before in this area
there is deep water on this lake --two small spots
but lake is 98% 4 ft average as it is at full pool right now

Nice report, there are some good ones out there. When the pads just start coming in, rip a square bill in there over the tops of them, they will kill it!! Wish it was deeper.

Where is the deeper water? Is it further north?

There is a lot of theft at the ramps. Guess it's to cold for the Meth heads to get out. That is the only reason I don't go there anymore. It is a great fishing lake.

It's a shame you can't fish where you want to without worrying about your truck and trailer back at the ramp

I've fished Sheldon for roughly 15 years and only had 1 issue. Tailgate was stolen off my truck. I laughed it off, called insurance and police. Made a report and got a new tailgate. I always left truck unlocked and nothing in it with value. If they wanted the whole truck they could have had it. As for as the lake goes, yes it has 2 spots with deep water. Hold those 2 spots dear to my heart as they produced 3 fish over 10 lbs and a 48 pound 5 fish limit for me in a matter of 4 hours one trip. Was absolutely the best day of fishing I've ever had. The lake took a hit with the drought and lost a ton of its potential I truly think. Would I hesitate to fish it, not in an instant. Love that little hideaway. Need to get another small boat to get in there.
